Currently precious stones is a trend, but books and reference source on precious stones is not enough, so the knowledge of precious stones are sometimes ambiguous. Many people, especially beginners who rely or believe what is conveyed by the seller that they consider to be out. Though not all sellers have sufficient knowledge even though it has long struggled in the stone business. This situation often confuse buyers or novice hobbyist, because often times people are a different naming the same precious stones.

In Indonesian society, agate is often distinguished or not including precious stones, but in fact, agate is one of the types of precious stones. The ambiguity of the term more confusing when then put stones terms of cuisine, custom stone, artificial stone and synthetic stone.
